# Market Your List First,Not Your Program
It's been said that in order to make money online, you need to have your own list. All of the guru's say "the money's in the list".The conventional wisdom regarding the value of a list is that each name on your list is worth $1.00 per month in income. So, if you have a 600 name list, that list will generate you $600.00 each month. A 10,000 name list will generate you $10,000.00 per month, and so on.These numbers and dollar amounts being passed around are a little bit misleading. You are being taught that the dollar value of your list is in direct proportion to the size of the list, and that is not entirely correct. Granted, the larger the list, the more opportunity for sales-but, and here's the key, without a solid relationship with the members it will be hard to sell your offer. What do I mean by relationship? Doesn't the fact that they have opted-in to your list mean there is a relationship? Aren't they agreeing to receive info and offers from you? Yes and no. By opting-in to your list, they are agreeing to receive information about the offer that drew them to your opt-in page. That doesn't necessarily mean they will check out any other offers you send them. So the opt-in creates a one-time relationship. Building a responsive list happens as a direct result of building a relationship with each member. They need to trust you, and value the information that they receive from you.Which would you rather have: a 10,000 member list with a .5% response rate (50 sales) or a 600 member list with a 50% response rate (300 sales)? That is the difference when you build a relationship instead of building a list. If you have taken the time to build that relationship with your list members, by providing them with sound advice, free offers that are geared to helping them build their business, marketing strategies, etc., then you can expect conversion rates of 25%, 50%, or more when you send your offer. There are no “fast” ways to build a quality list. The best approach to list building is to offer free, useful information, advice, software, etc., that is geared towards helping your members in their own online business. Target their niche and tailor your offerings to that niche. This is how you build a solid, responsive list-one whose members will read all of your emails and will be more inclined to purchase the program you have to offer. You have built credibility with them, they trust and respect you. When you send them an offer, they will believe what you are telling them about the value of the program. All of your advertising should be geared towards building your list. Opt-in forms on your landing pages are the most important part of your websites. If you are not collecting names from all of your traffic, then you are wasting 99% of your traffic generating efforts. What good are 1000 visitors if only 10 click through? What happened to the other 990? If you paid $0.10 per visit, you wasted $99.00! If you collected the opt-in for those 990 visitors, you have 990 targeted potential buyers who you can email offers to, send free material, advice, information, etc. How many will remain on your list? That depends on you, and the value you build into that relationship. I guarantee that at least 25 to 50 percent will remain on your list and will be motivated buyers for you. I have found a list building program that is geared to just that-building your list. Unlike safelists, this program doesn't require you to receive hundreds or thousands of emails daily (that you don't read anyway-and most of the emails you send are going unread too!), this list builder actually has people paying you to join your list! Market your list and people pay you to join-because they can then market their list and get paid too! You really should check it out.http://tinyurl.com/5ct9v6Remember, market to build your list with every ad, email, PPC, etc., and you will soon have a list numbering in the thousands.Steve Smithathomeguru@gmail.com
